Arsenal Blow Real Madrid Away 3-0 at the Emirates in Champions League Semi Final First Leg

History was written under the floodlights of the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night as Arsenal delivered a sensational 3-0 victory over reigning champions Real Madrid in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League knockout tie.

It was a night where the Gunners dominated from the first whistle, with Declan Rice stepping up as the unexpected hero. The England international bagged a brace, proving not just his defensive mettle but his attacking instincts as well. His first goal came from a bullet header off a corner, and the second — a perfectly timed run into the box showed composure beyond his usual role in midfield.

With Madrid still reeling, it was Mikel Merino who delivered the final blow, slotting home Arsenal’s third goal with confidence and precision. The Emirates erupted, as fans began to believe they were witnessing something truly special.

Real Madrid, boasting their star-studded lineup including the ever-dangerous Kylian Mbappé, tried to claw their way back into the game. Mbappé looked lively and determined, creating chances and testing the Arsenal backline, but couldn’t find the breakthrough. Arsenal’s defence held firm, with William Saliba and Gabriel standing tall and David Raya making crucial saves when it mattered most.

For Mikel Arteta’s men, this was more than just a victory  it was a statement. A reminder that Arsenal are back on the biggest stage and mean business. Yet, even with a three-goal cushion, the tie is far from settled.

The return leg at the Santiago Bernabéu looms large a place where champions rise and legends are made. Real Madrid will be out to remind the world why they are the most decorated club in Champions League history. But Arsenal now have the upper hand and a golden opportunity to rewrite their own story.

Can the Gunners hold firm in Madrid and pull off what many thought impossible? Can they eliminate the champions and step closer to European glory?

The stage is set. The decider awaits.
