Audi South Africa is excited to announce that the nation’s only Audi RS 6 Avant GT will go under the hammer at an exclusive auction in Cape Town on 7 November 2024. With only 660 units produced globally, securing unit 74 for South Africa is a major win, as many countries won’t receive this rare automotive masterpiece. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit a charitable cause, with further details to follow.
As the final internal-combustion RS 6 model, the RS 6 Avant GT represents the pinnacle of Audi’s engineering and is expected to draw immense interest from collectors and Audi enthusiasts alike. This momentous event will bring together registered bidders, invited guests, and media to witness the culmination of over two decades of groundbreaking innovation, as one lucky bidder claims the crown jewel of the RS 6 line.
Sascha Sauer, Head of Audi South Africa, emphasized the significance of this model: “The Audi RS 6 Avant GT marks the end of an illustrious era for the RS 6 series. It’s not just a car—it embodies the apex of Audi’s engineering excellence and a legacy we are deeply proud of.”
The RS 6 Avant GT: Born from Innovation
The RS 6 Avant GT draws its inspiration from the 2020 RS 6 GTO concept, a project crafted by 12 Audi apprentices, who based their design on the legendary 1989 Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO race car. This innovative approach showcases the incredible potential of young talent within the company, even during their apprenticeships.
Boasting exclusive features, the RS 6 Avant GT includes a pass-through roof edge spoiler, redefined diffuser, and 22-inch wheels in a distinctive design. The interior offers RS bucket seats and a heritage-inspired color scheme, while the centre console features the unique vehicle number, highlighting its rarity. Performance is unmatched, with a twin-turbocharged V8 engine delivering an impressive 463kW and 850Nm of torque, propelling the car from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.3 seconds and reaching a top speed of 305km/h.
South Africa’s unit 74 will be finished in Arkona White with Audi Sport’s signature black, grey, and red accents. Optional features include RS ceramic brakes, the RS Dynamic package plus, and a Bang & Olufsen 3D Advanced Sound System.
Built for Exclusivity
Unlike the standard RS 6 Avant, the GT is hand-assembled in Audi’s specialized Böllinger Höfe facility, home to the R8 and e-tron GT. Seven highly experienced technicians complete the final assembly over the course of a day, ensuring that every GT-specific feature, from its adjustable coilover suspension to its meticulously crafted bodywork, is installed with precision.
