BAIC SA paid tribute to Nelson Mandela’s enduring legacy of giving back to the community by hosting an inspiring event at its Gqeberha plant. The company showcased its commitment to empowering young people and supporting local organisations, bridging the gap in skills development and empowering future leaders to explore career options in the engineering and automotive industry.
In partnership with SOS Children’s Village, BAIC SA welcomed 18 enthusiastic children aged 13-18 for a tour at the BAIC SA plant in Gqeberha. The children embarked on a fascinating tour, gaining hands-on knowledge of car production and interacting with industry experts. One of BAIC SA’s values is emphasising entrepreneurship and career exposure for young minds.
In the spirit of Nelson Mandela’s belief that ‘education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,’ BAIC SA made a significant contribution to the children’s educational journey. The company presented precious gifts to SOS Children’s Village, including school bags and calculators, to support the children’s learning. The event also featured exciting games that sparked the children’s imagination and encouraged them to envision their dream car.
‘We are thrilled to have hosted this event, paying tribute to Madiba’s selfless spirit and investing in the future of our youth,’ said Anele Geza, CFO of BAIC SA. ‘By providing access to education and career exposure, we can shape the minds of tomorrow and create a brighter future for all. Our commitment to empowering the next generation and supporting organisations like SOS Children’s Village, who share our values, is unwavering.’
The event was a resounding success, with attendees praising BAIC SA’s commitment to serving its customers and honouring Nelson Mandela’s legacy of community service. As Nelson Mandela once said, “The true character of a society is revealed in how it treats its children.” BAIC SA’s efforts are a shining example of this philosophy in action.
