ISUZU MOTORS SOUTH AFRICA DONATES SCHOOL WEAR TO PROMOTE LEARNER DIGNITY AND INCLUSION

In a continued effort to make education more accessible and equitable for learners from disadvantaged communities, Isuzu Motors South Africa (IMSAf) has donated 820 pairs of school shoes and socks to two primary schools located in Gauteng and the Eastern Cape.

The initiative aims to remove barriers to education—like the lack of proper school uniforms—while promoting dignity, inclusion, and a better learning experience. IMSAf donated 500 pairs of school shoes and socks to learners at Mikateka Primary School in Ivory Park, Midrand, followed by a further donation of 320 pairs to Kayser Ngxwana Primary School in KwaZakhele, Gqeberha.

“The reality is that many children in our communities are in urgent need of school shoes. As part of our commitment to addressing this challenge, we have extended our support to schools within the communities where we operate,” said Celestin Ndhlovu, Executive Vice President: Corporate Services at Isuzu Motors South Africa. “Through this initiative, we aim to restore learners’ dignity, boost their confidence, and support their journey toward educational success.”

The school shoes were manufactured by My Walk, a non-profit public benefit organisation that uses recycled medical waste to produce durable and reliable footwear. This environmentally conscious approach not only reduces healthcare waste and associated greenhouse gas emissions but also contributes to education, job creation, and enterprise development.

“This generous donation will transform the daily experience of many of our learners. When a child feels confident in their appearance, they are better able to focus on their studies and fully engage in school life. We are deeply grateful to Isuzu for recognising and responding to this need,” said Mandla Sibanyoni, Principal of Mikateka Primary School.

“For some of our learners, this will be the first brand-new pair of school shoes they have ever owned. It sends a powerful message that they matter—and that their education matters. We thank Isuzu Motors South Africa for investing in our children’s futures,” added Vathiswa Diamond, Principal of Kayser Ngxwana Primary School.

This project forms part of IMSAf’s broader commitment to investing in education and supporting the holistic development of young people in underserved communities.
