OMODA, the fast-growing premium brand within the Chery Group, marks its first year in South Africa with a strong sales performance.
OMODA’s contribution was instrumental in securing the Chery Group’s record-breaking April 2024 sales figures. The brand’s sales accounted for a significant 12.8% of the Group’s total registrations (2,009 units), placing them sixth overall in the manufacturer standings and fourth in the passenger vehicle segment.
When compared to individual brands, OMODA achieved an impressive 19th position out of 54 automotive marques in South Africa. This accomplishment surpasses several established Japanese and European automakers, highlighting the brand’s rapid market acceptance.
“OMODA’s performance in its first year is truly remarkable,” said Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager Chery/OMODA & JAECOO South Africa. “The positive response from private buyers, evident through dealer channel sales, is a strong indicator of growing consumer confidence in our brand.”
OMODA’s success is even more noteworthy considering their current offering – the versatile C5 line-up, including the limited-edition GT. Introduced a year ago, the C5’s unique design captured attention in a market dominated by conventional crossover SUVs.
OMODA’s commitment to the South African market is evident in their upcoming product launches. Later in 2024, the luxurious C9 flagship and the fully electric E5 will join the lineup. Additionally, the recently unveiled C7 is also planned for a future local introduction.
