Last week, OMODA South Africa hosted an exclusive soirée to showcase its upcoming C9 luxury flagship model, offering a select group of high-profile guests a first look at this eagerly awaited addition to the brand’s lineup. The preview event, held at Langhams Lifestyle Estate in Fourways, Johannesburg, was a collaborative effort between OMODA and its vehicle-finance partner, Absa, one of Africa’s largest financial services groups.
The evening exuded sophistication, with guests indulging in a luxurious champagne experience, roaming gourmet canapés, and artistically presented oysters, setting the tone for the unveiling of the C9’s distinctly upmarket character.
Attendees included A-list celebrities such as fashion designer Khosi Nkosi, Dr. Khanyile, spiritual healer Gogo Skhotheni, reality TV star Khosi Twala, and renowned musician Brian Temba, among others. Absa representatives, members of the media, government officials, and acclaimed visual artist Ramarutha Makoba were also in attendance.
In a unique touch, guests were invited to leave their mark on a special canvas, which will be transformed by Makoba into a one-of-a-kind artwork. The completed piece will be unveiled at the official launch of the OMODA C9 in October 2024, before being auctioned off for charity.
“Given that the new C9 is a true masterpiece of automotive design, partnering with an artist of Ramarutha’s calibre is fitting. This collaboration not only highlights the artistry behind the vehicle but also allows OMODA to give back to the community. The proceeds from the auction will go to a charity that will be announced at the C9’s launch,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager for OMODA & JAECOO South Africa.
Charl Potgieter, Managing Executive of Absa Vehicle and Asset Finance, emphasized the significance of the event in showcasing the values driving Absa’s partnership with OMODA. He highlighted that their collaboration extends beyond vehicle finance, focusing on empowering customers and contributing to the local economy.
“As the bank of choice in the automotive industry, Absa’s partnership with OMODA is multifaceted. This event demonstrated our shared commitment to driving innovation and accessibility in South Africa’s automotive finance sector,” said Potgieter.
The OMODA C9, set to officially launch in October 2024, distinguishes itself with an award-winning avant-garde exterior, a powerful engine, and premium features such as built-in seat massagers, a high-end audio system, a curved dual-screen setup, and luxurious cabin materials. More details about the C9’s comprehensive standard specifications will be revealed at its market debut later this year.
