Red Bull Dance Your Style returns to Botswana – bringing rhythm, rivalry and raw talent to Molapo Crossing
Red Bull Dance Your Style returns to Botswana for its second annual edition, culminating in a spectacular national final at Molapo Crossing Piazza on Saturday, 16 August 2025. This dynamic event puts the spotlight on freestyle dancers across the country, with no judges – just crowd energy and musical unpredictability.
This year’s campaign is turning up the tempo with a week-long series of events designed to discover, celebrate and elevate local talent.
Key activation dates:
- 1 August – Dance studio takeover: Free public dance workshops hosted at The Dance Space, Phakalane from 4pm – 6pm
- 2 August – Dance studio takeover: Free public dance workshops hosted at City Active Gym, Toro Junction, Francistown from 1pm – 4pm
- 8 August – Open public qualifier: Dancers from across Botswana go head-to-head for a place in the final showdown at University of Botswana Amphitheatre from 1pm – 5pm.
- 9 August – Dance studio takeover: Free public dance workshops hosted at Jacks Gym Itowers from 1pm – 4pm.
- 9 August – Open public qualifier: Once more, dancers will gather for the second leg of open qualifiers at Mafitlhakgosi Restaurant, Zola (Old Naledi) from 4:30pm – 7pm
- 16 August – National finale at Molapo Crossing Piazza: One dancer will be crowned champion and earn the honour of representing Botswana on the global stage in Los Angeles in October.
Reflecting on her journey, Yarona Tumelo, winner of the first-ever Red Bull Dance Your Style Botswana in 2024, shared: “Winning last year completely changed the direction of my life. It opened doors I didn’t even know existed, from international dance camps to brand partnerships and mentorships. More than anything, it showed me that our dance culture in Botswana is powerful and deserving of a global platform. To anyone thinking about entering – this is your chance. Don’t hold back.”
The competition is unique as it involves unpredictable music and crowd-voting. The DJ plays a crucial role as he curates the playlist with different genres of music to test the versatility of the dancers while adapting to the beat with their respective dance styles. The audience acts as the judging panel and determines the winner of a battle round by using voting cards.
Red Bull Dance Your Style is more than a competition; it’s a street cultural celebration. Dancers must impress the audience with freestyle routines to unpredictable music genres – from amapiano to hip hop and beyond. The crowd decides who owns the floor.
