A Five-Year Journey to Customizing Lives with Bespoke AI
When people hear “bespoke,” they often think of a tailored suit. However, since 2019, when Samsung Electronics introduced its personalized Bespoke home appliances, the term has come to represent a new era of comfort and convenience at home. This year, the product line has evolved into Bespoke AI, underscoring how artificial intelligence (AI) is enhancing users’ lives in alignment with Samsung’s “AI for All” vision. Samsung Newsroom reflects on key milestones from this five-year journey.
The Bespoke concept was launched in 2019 as part of Samsung’s initiative to transition from being a home appliance manufacturer to a consumer-centric lifestyle brand. The initial line of home appliances featured unique and customizable colors and finishes, including fridges and dishwashers, allowing users to express their personal style and adapt the modularity of the products to their needs.
In 2020, under the slogan “Fits your lifestyle,” Samsung expanded its Bespoke product offerings to include refrigerators and dishwashers. The following year, the Bespoke Home strategy extended the concept to a comprehensive home solution, introducing a 20-year warranty on Samsung Digital Inverter Refrigerators and Washing Machines.
The Bespoke Refrigerator made its debut in South Africa, placing personal tastes at the forefront, where practicality and convenience once reigned. Consumers could select the Samsung Bespoke refrigerator that best matched their preferences and transform the setup as their needs changed over time.
Bespoke Home 2022 introduced more value by expanding the lineup to include washing machines and air conditioners. Additionally, users could leverage the AI-based SmartThings Home Life service to connect and control various home appliances.
The 2023 vision, Bespoke Life, emphasized the brand’s core values of sustainability, hyper-connectivity, and design. Samsung integrated AI into the Bespoke line and equipped all new Bespoke products with Wi-Fi connectivity. As part of the Bespoke lineup expansion, Samsung introduced new microwaves, washing machines, and dishwashers, offering consumers greater flexibility in designing their kitchens with sleek designs and stylish colors.
Reflecting the focus on sustainable living and energy efficiency, Samsung expanded its AI Energy Mode—a SmartThings feature that monitors energy consumption—to 65 countries worldwide.
2024: Introducing Bespoke AI
Continuing its commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency, Samsung has further enhanced its AI Energy Mode, combining connectivity, AI, and sustainability. Other Bespoke AI home appliances include the Bespoke AI Front Loader Washing Machine available in 12kg, 16kg, and 18kg washer-dryer combos, and the Bespoke AI Dishwasher.
This year’s AI-enabled refrigerators, such as the Side-by-Side Refrigerator (SBS) and Bottom Mount Freezer (BMF), further enhance convenience, although they are not included in the Bespoke range.
By integrating connectivity, AI, and sustainability, Bespoke AI transforms users’ lives, reducing the time and energy needed for household tasks while prioritizing environmental care. Samsung is poised to exceed expectations as it continues to evolve its vision for Bespoke home appliances.
