Hands-Free, Eyes-Off (SAE Level 3) Functionality Now Ready for Deployment

STLA AutoDrive delivers SAE Level 3 automation at speeds up to 60 km/h (37 mph), even in nighttime and adverse weather conditions.
Supports Level 2 (hands-on) and Level 2+ (hands-off, eyes-on) driving at higher speeds, featuring Adaptive Cruise Control and lane centering.
Designed for future enhancements, with potential for high-speed operation up to 95 km/h (59 mph) and off-road capabilities.

Stellantis N.V. today introduced STLA AutoDrive 1.0, the company’s first in-house-developed automated driving system, marking a significant milestone in vehicle intelligence and automation. As a core component of Stellantis’ advanced technology strategy—alongside STLA Brain and STLA Smart Cockpit—this system enhances safety, efficiency, and the overall driving experience.

STLA AutoDrive offers Hands-Free and Eyes-Off (SAE Level 3) driving at speeds up to 60 km/h (37 mph), reducing driver workload in stop-and-go traffic. Designed to optimize commuting, it allows drivers to engage in non-driving activities such as reading, responding to emails, or simply relaxing while the system handles acceleration, braking, and steering.

“Helping drivers make the best use of their time is a priority,” said Ned Curic, Stellantis Chief Engineering and Technology Officer. “By managing routine driving tasks, STLA AutoDrive transforms time behind the wheel into a more efficient and enjoyable experience.”

When road and traffic conditions permit, drivers receive a prompt indicating that STLA AutoDrive is available. Upon activation via a dedicated button, the system seamlessly takes control, maintaining safe following distances, adjusting speed, and managing steering based on real-time traffic flow.

STLA AutoDrive operates with high precision and reliability, even in low-visibility conditions such as nighttime driving, light rain, or road spray. Its advanced sensor suite, combined with an automated cleaning system, ensures continuous high-performance operation.

Engineered to react naturally and predictably, STLA AutoDrive delivers a smooth, human-like driving experience—whether adjusting to merging traffic or maintaining optimal spacing between vehicles.

At higher speeds, the system provides Level 2 (hands-on) and Level 2+ (hands-off, eyes-on) automation, featuring:

Adaptive Cruise Control for speed and distance management.
Lane centering to maintain a steady and safe trajectory.
    Scalability and Future Evolution

Built on a flexible architecture, STLA AutoDrive is ready for global deployment, ensuring adaptability across various Stellantis brands and markets. Over-the-air (OTA) updates enable continuous enhancements, integrating real-time data for optimized performance.

While compliant with all relevant regulations, STLA AutoDrive requires drivers to remain seated, belted, and ready to take control when necessary, in accordance with local laws.

    Hands-Free, Eyes-Off driving at speeds up to 95 km/h (59 mph).
Expanded off-road automation capabilities for select models.
With safety, flexibility, and long-term adaptability at its core, STLA AutoDrive represents Stellantis’ commitment to delivering intelligent, comfortable, and future-ready mobility solutions.
