Volkswagen Motorsport driver Jonathan Mogotsi is ready for the challenge of a lifetime as he prepares to make his debut at the legendary Nürburgring 24-hour race on 18–19 May. His journey to the starting line has been demanding, beginning with earning his Permit A ‘Ring Licence’ during the NLS2 4-hour race in March, followed by additional track time at the NLS3 4-hour race in April.
“After obtaining my Nürburgring Permit A in March and gaining further experience in the April 4-hour qualifier, I feel fully prepared to take on the epic 24-hour race next weekend,” said Mogotsi. “The April race was incredibly valuable, and I learned a great deal. The most important lesson is that traffic management on the track is critical. That said, I believe I am as ready as I will ever be for my 24-hour debut.”
Reflecting on the journey, Mogotsi added: “My Nürburgring 24 experience over the past few months has been eye-opening. Video games come nowhere close to showing how narrow, bumpy, and blind the corners at the Nürburgring truly are. But now, my focus is entirely on the big race, driving my Max Kruse Racing Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI. I must once again thank Volkswagen Motorsport, Max Kruse Racing, Sparco, and all our partners for making this incredible opportunity—and my Nordschleife experience—a reality.”
The Nürburgring 24-hour race takes place over the weekend of 18–19 May. The entire event will be live-streamed, with live timing available at www.24h-rennen.de.
